Conference on Nature-Based Wastewater Treatment in Southeastern Europe and Turkey

Partners in the multi-national EU-funded H2020 project INNOQUA have developed and demonstrated the potential of novel, modular nature-based, decentralised wastewater treatment solutions in Romania, Turkey and nine other countries. These solutions combine the different treatment capabilities of earthworms, microalgae, bacterial biofilms, Daphnia (“water fleas”) and UV light. During this conference, the INNOQUA team and a group of invited experts shared their experiences – highlighting the potential for nature-based approaches to wastewater treatment, as well as future R&D and commercial opportunities in this sector.
